Breaking News:

I'm working with radio show host Lisa Garr of The Aware Show on KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles. I'm helping her move all her radio show recordings onto the Internet. This is very exciting as Lisa is an acknowledged leader in the Human Potential Development movement. She's been doing her talk show for the past 10 years. Her recordings are an absolute goldmine of rare and valuable information of interest to all success minded individuals.

Here's what I'm doing for Lisa...

She does her talkshow for 1 hour 3 times a week. When she walks out of the studio the radio station's sound engineer hands her a recording of her show on an audio CD-ROM.

She walks across the street to her office and puts the CD-ROM into her desktop computer and starts a utility program that rips the audio from the CD-ROM, converts it to an .mp3 format file, and uploads it to my file server via the Internet.

While the rip is in progress she picks up the phone and records a 3 minute promotion of the show she just completed. When she hangs up the phone a program automatically converts the voicemail to an .mp3 file and uploads it to our file server.

Prior to her live show her producers enter a profile of her guest into a database via a Producer Dashboard web form.

At this point Lisa's involvement is complete. I take over from here...

The radio show recording, promo recording, and profile information are potentially repurposed into hundreds of different formats. These products are then made available for purchase to her 20,000 listeners an hour audience. The opt-in pages referred to above is one example of how we repurpose Lisa's content... in this case we're giving away a free sample of a show recording in exchange for the audience member's name and email address in order to build our mailing list.

The new database schema to house all the show information is complete.

Development of the Producer Dashboard web form is complete. Training for the producers and the data entry staff is complete.

Metrics have been added to the Import procedure to give management and staff live feedback on the status of data conversion.

Setup of approximately 50 syndication feeds for announcing new show episodes is complete.

We just hired a computer programmer to automate the uploading of audio files to Amazon S3. At the same time he'll provide us with a webform so that going forward producers will be able to self-service upload their new files.

We just passed the halfway mark for adding the 1,088 episodes of The Aware Show to the Success Library. We've added another virtual assistant so data entry should be complete within the next 2 weeks.

09/15/2008
Adding the 1,088 episodes of The Aware Show to the Success Library is complete! Now we switch to getting the content integrated into the calendar on The Aware Show homepage.

09/18/2008
The calendar on The Aware Show homepage is live. The next step is audit all the audio files that have been ripped and to get the .MP3 files uploaded to Amazon.com.

All the .MP3 files have been uploaded to Amazon.com. We can now support the most dramatic spikes in demand without breaking a sweat. Next we'll setup the membership site.

The new membership site is online. Next we'll be sending out preview invitations to existing customers.
